Fashion & Textiles Pop-up Factory & Career Stand at the Derbyshire Skills Festival
Almost 7000 young people visited the first two days of Derbyshire Skills Festival on September 19thand 20th2018, the county’s largest careers event.
Organised by Derby City Council the event was aimed at students aged 13 to 19, particularly those in Year 11 considering their options after school
KTL Ltd joined UKFT and number of local employers at the Derbyshire Skills Festival in September, to deliver a hands-on industrial sewing experience, share exciting new statistics, showing the diversity of the industry, sector growth, career options, progression routes, local employment opportunities and the new range of apprenticeships.
Young people enjoyed using the top of the range industrial machines, and under supervisions produced a textiles product that they were able to take away. Visitors also engaged in discussion with our experts and employers about careers, training and apprenticeships within the sector. Many participants, parents, teachers and career advisors admitted no knowledge of our thriving fashion and textiles sector, and agreed that the Fashion & Textiles Career Stand and Pop up factory gave them the right information to inform future options and career choices.
